PRESIDENT SANTONJA MEETS H. E. MIA AMORMOTTLEY,
THE PRIME MINISTER OF BARBADOS
l On the occasion of the great IFBB
Roger Boyce Classic Championships,
IFBB President Rafael Santonja traveled
to Barbados, where he had the honor to
meet with H. E. Mia Amor Mottley, Prime
Minister of Barbados.
During the meeting, President Santonja
expressed his gratitude for her steadfast
support of the sports of bodybuilding and
fitness as a means of promoting health and
education among the population.
Barbados has a great number of
implemented programs to support
sports and projects aimed at promoting
healthy lifestyles. These initiatives are
designed to change nutritional habits
and improve public health. The reception
and participation of the IFBB Roger
Boyce Classic Championships is a clear
demonstration that Barbados is not only an
amazing paradisiacal touristic destination
but also a country that loves sport.
During his visit, President also had the
opportunity to meet Mr. Earl Maynard,
a pioneer of bodybuilding and two-time
winner of the Mr. Universe title, having won
the event in 1959 and 1965 in Montreal,
Canada and competitor of the first edition
of Mr. Olympia. At 88 years old, he remains
a legendary figure in the history of our
sport, demonstrating how bodybuilding
is the perfect anti-aging lifestyle. Full of

the opportunity to enjoy a very pleasant
and insightful conversation with him,
