Al-Istiqlal University, represented by Brig. Gen.Zaher Sabah, the Vice President for Military Affairs, signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Palestinian Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, represented by Mr. Bashir Salama, the Vice President of the Federation, in the presence of Dr. Nayef Jarad, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ali Ayida, the Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Mr. Ghaleb Tartir, the Technical Director of the Federation, Mr. Saif Abu Salem, the Secretary-General of the Federation, Dr. Iyad Masoud, the Assistant to the University President for Public and International Relations and MediaDepartment, Mr. Bassem Qannam, the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, and Dr. MuntherNasrallah.
The memorandum shows the importance of sports and physical fitness in promoting a healthier and successful society, and raises the level of awareness of physical fitness and sports in the Palestinian society.
Furthermore, the memorandum includes joint supervisory cooperation to train student cadres on the fitness challenge and methods of performing correctly according to the rules and regulations of the International Federation and holding training sessions related to the laws and regulations of the sport of bodybuilding and fitness, in addition to supervising and arbitrating competitions.
It is noteworthy to mention that the Palestinian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation is considered the official and accredited representative in the State of Palestine for this sport and the body responsible for training coaches, holding arbitration courses, and organizing championships and sportscompetitions related to its specialty, with accreditation from international, Arab, and Asian federations under the umbrella of the Palestinian Olympic Committee and the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
