VEGETABLE OR
ANIMAL FOOD?
Humans are omnivorous. Our digestive
system processes plant and animal
products perfectly. Furthermore, when
Homo habilis appears and - a million
years later - Homo erectus follows, they
feed on seeds, tubers, some wild fruits,
adding the small animals they can
get: insects, sea shells or captured fish.
We - Homo sapiens, already a hundred
thousand years or more on the earth -
continue to be omnivores, and we have
been adding a greater amount of fat
and animal protein. We hunt and fish,
and for several millennia now we have
ploughed the earth and gathered the
crops.
There is a reality that refers to the
general effect of nutrients: vegetarian
people, especially if they are strict,
tend to have older-looking physiques,
with lower performance in sports. It’s
better to eat everything - as long as it is
healthy and preferably tasty (it has been
proven that a pleasant taste usually
favours the immune system, it acts by
lowering endorphins and dopamines
(hormones of happiness).
NATURAL OR
PROCESSED FOOD?
Your foods should always be natural, of
course. Processed food, or fast food, is toxic
for your body. They contain trans-saturated
fats, simple sugars, industrial fructose and
other unhealthy ingredients that attack
the liver and kidneys, weaken the immune
system and advance old age in terms of its
two variables: image and benefits.
