Should you train
6 DAYS
a week?
There may not be a 100% valid answer for
everyone. It depends on many factors, but I am
going to give an answer that is correct for the
vast majority.
The answer is no.
You do NOT have to train six days a week.
So, now let’s get to what really matters, namely: why not –
and in this case the exception of why yes. Based on an
idealized grading of people who train, we could say that there
are 3-4 levels of weight training/fitness/bodybuilding or
whatever you want to call it. There are myriad essays and
textbooks; even I have written multiple texts (including books)
where I talk about beginners, intermediate and advanced
athletes, including those who compete and those who do not
compete, but could.
The explanation of why you should not train six days a
week comes when it is understood that, physiologically,
training damages or is an aggression to our own body, as
training produces stress to the muscle tissue. The problem
with training so many times becomes lack of recovery. You
have to recover or heal from the damage caused by training.
If you can repair from all the training sessions of that week of
six training sessions, then this article would not make much
sense. But that’s not what is going to happen.
