INCORPORATE JOINT-FRIENDLY
VARIATIONS
> Sometimes, traditional exercises might put excessive stress on certain
joints. Incorporating joint-friendly variations can help. For example:
• Resistance bands for accessory work provides constant tension
without excessive joint stress.
• Hack squats instead of back squats and Hex bar deadlifts instead of
conventional deadlifts, can both reduce stress on the lower back.
5 • Dumbbell presses instead of barbell presses can allow for more
natural shoulder movement.
DON’T FORGET
GRIP STRENGTH
TRAINING
> We use our hands in everything
we do. It makes sense to
condition the joints in our
fingers, hands, wrists and elbows
effectively. Longevity studies
have also shown grip strength to
be a strong indicator of overall
muscle quality and strength,
decelerating the ageing process.
Exercises such as farmers carry,
fat-grip pulls, hand-grippers,
reverse wrist curls, pull-ups and
dead hangs are all effective to
improve grip strength and hand
joint health.
