The 2019 IFBB World Juniors Championships were the biggest after splitting Juniors from Masters events. But even bigger success appeared to be the introduction of the younger junior categories 16-20 years old. In some divisions there were more younger juniors than juniors 21-23 years old. It was really impressive to watch perfectly shaped girls in fitness, bikini fitness or bodyfitness as well as boys in men’s physique or bodybuilding. And in some divisions, like bikini fitness and fitness, younger juniors won the overall titles, beating older junior champions!
With over 250 participants from 38 countries a barrier of 200 participants have been broken. In 2018 there were 133 participants representing 28 countries. The Championships were well-prepared and organized by the team of experienced officials from the Hungarian Federation led by President Istvan Huber and General Secretary Viola Vargha. The event was attended by the IFBB President, Dr. Rafael Santonja and Vice-Presidents: Juan Paredes (Ecuador) and Pawel Filleborn (Poland) joined by the Asian Federation (AFBF) President Zhang Haifeng (China). They presented awards to the overall winners. Altogether, with delegates and supporters, nearly 400 participants were involved in the Championships, which was held at the University of Physical Education in Budapest.
Five countries battled till the last category for the Best Team title which finally went to Turkey, followed by Czechia, Poland, Slovakia and Romania. After the IFBB Meeting in January, the host country of the 2020 Junior Worlds will be announced.
