SWEETENERS
International health and
nutrition experts agree on the
benefits of low- and no-calorie
sweeteners
Low-calorie and no-calorie sweeteners
are intensely sweet-tasting components
that contain virtually no calories, such
as aspartame, acesulfame K, saccharin,
sucralose, and steviol glycosides. All of them
pass rigorous food safety tests, but despite
this some legislators and health professionals
are reluctant to promote their use as part of
a healthy diet.
